Established in 1969, South Croydon has seen thousands of players take to Cheong Park in the red, white and blue. For 49 years, South Croydon saw young men come through the club from when they first started out playing Auskick, rising through the ranks to Senior Football. It wasn’t until 2018, that the club introduced a women’s team, allowing local women, daughters of club greats and girls to have a chance at Senior football for the Club too.

Senior & Reserves Men

So far, the club has seen 11 Men’s Premierships since our establishment.

Our Senior Men’s teams over the years saw them win a premiership in 1973, 1983, 1988, 1991, 2001, 2006 2009, and most recently 2017.

Whilst our Reserves Men have seen just the three premierships in 1980, 1983, and their most recent one in 2001.

Twice, our Senior Men’s players have taken home the prestigious League Best and Fairest, with 2022 seeing Max King take home the Medal, and 2016 seeing Daniel King take it home.

Senior & Reserves Women

In just their second year of fielding a side, our women’s team secured their inaugural Premiership in 2019. Another Grand Final appearance was made in 2022 by the Premier Women’s side, but they unfortunately fell short to a strong outfit in the Eastern Devils.

2019 and 2022 saw player Taylah Black secure the League Best & Fairest by the EFNL, as she cements herself into Club History.

2022 also saw the clubs Premier Women’s Coach, Simon Hammersley be awarded Coach of the Year by the EFNL as he lead the side to their second Grand Final appearance.

Under 19s

Our ‘Colts’ Under-19’s teams have been relatively successful over the years, seeing a total of seven premierships so far. The premierships were won in 1985, 1991, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2018.

Veterans Men

The Over-35’s Men’s Veterans team has been a contender over the years as they battle it out across the Eastern region. The South Croydon Veterans have seen a total of five premierships, winning them in 1999, 2002, 2003, 2013, and 2014.

Netball

South Croydon netball has been involved the EFNL netball league since its inception in 2015. The growth over the years has been incredible to watch, from only 8 teams and one division to now 87 teams across 9 divisions.

Some success has been had over the years with one team winning the premiership in 2018 premier division alongside a league best and fairest winner in the same year.

We’ve seen many friendships grow and plenty of smiles along the journey so far. We can’t wait to keep developing this program and provide more opportunities and more teams in the league.
